School Supply List

We used to be able to decide, as a grade level, what items we wanted on our school supply list.  That was great because we knew what we needed and what we would actually use.  A few years ago, my district decided to make things "easier" by changing that.  We now have one school supply list per grade level across the district.  We asked that a few things be removed/added, but the answer was no.  So...here is the 1st grade school supply list for the upcoming school year.

How does this compare to what you ask your students/parents to bring to school?

  2. WOW! That is a long list! I try to keep mine as simple as possible... I even put pictures with each item! I ask for 2 boxes Crayola crayons (24 count), 6 glue sticks, 1 box of pencils, 2 bottles hand sanitizer, 1 roll of paper towels, and 1 box of tissues. I also put a wish list for ziploc bags, cleaning wipes, and stickers.

  3. It is the same thing in my school district. It drives me NUTS! We end up getting something we won't use, not getting something we need, and getting way too much of something else.

I may put out a wish list this year. Good idea Mrs. Pollard. :)

  4. Wow! I would love it if parents actually brought those things in. Do you get it all or a lot of it anyway? We are allowed to ask for donations, but we can't require it. I can barely get parents to send in Kleenex, much less crayons for homework! If you get it, you are so lucky! I buy most of what I need myself and then hope for the best with grade level money for the other supplies.
